etsy shop feature: rebourne [handmade eco-friendly baby & family goods]

This weekend I caught up with the shop owner of rebourne, an online clothing shop specializing in wool cloth diaper covers.  Marni, the artisan behind the upcycled items, was kind enough to answer a few questions for me — even though her newest baby is not yet a week old. Thanks Marni!

Q: How would you describe rebourne?

My shop is a collection of handmade items for baby and family. I use mostly upcycled materials to create one-of-a-kind creations, many of which are cloth diapering oriented.

Q: As I was browsing your shop, I noticed the word “longies” used to describe some of the diaper covers. For the benefit of those who aren’t familiar with the term, could you explain?

Longies are pants made out of wool that are used as a cloth diaper cover. Instead of using a plastic cover over a cloth diaper, longies are worn as a cover that doubles as comfortable pants!

interior design: orange and green bedroom

you’ve seen the ikea somnat crib we’re planning to get. below is a little collage of the vibrant colours the crib will be joining.

and stay tuned, because next up on the blog, i’ll be posting another in the ongoing series ::a collection of fotos found on flickr:: this time it will be all about (orange and green!) bunting and pendants, since i’ll soon be putting brush and scissors to paper to make a string or two myself!

a little glimpse

yes, i know. i haven’t been blogging much (at all?). but really, blame it all on our little kumquat. for such a tiny little human, he/she sure has a very strong opinion of how i should spend my days. (i.e., kneeling in front of the porcelain throne.)

mom recently gave me a framed version of this lovely Mary Cassatt image:

Breakfast-in-Bed Mary Cassatt painting

and can you guess where i hung it? yes. above the porcelain throne.  i like that reminder it gives me.  this too will pass.  for such a time as this.  everything in its season. how a very brief trial will reap unspeakable rewards.

i can see a little glimpse of what’s to come in that mary cassatt image.  the look on the mother’s face. the curly-haired child. the cup of coffee.

and i’m filled with such joy.
