A Little Tour of a Corner of our Home

Striped Curtains in Wind, Orange Paper Lantern, Orange Mirror
Since I finally finished sewing the third striped curtain, I thought I’d share the completed room. We only moved in at the end of February…it’s about time, right?

Keep Calm, Milo Berries, Noferin, Matryoshka

The dried milo berries are from our wedding. Our centerpieces — large hurricane lamps — contained tiny bouquets of milo berries sticking out of black sand. The berries were also scattered around at the end of the aisle, instead of flower petals.Headbands Oaxacaborn on Etsy, Aveline's First Stocking

Aveline’s first little stocking, and a few of the headbands in my shop. I’m SO looking forward to Aveline’s first Christmas!

I love the vest and necklace — both by Ouef — on the wee model on the left! Aveline needs a vest, yes? Let me get my crochet hook…

Drea’s recipes are so good. Aveline and I have been devouring her ratatouille lately. These patties look delicious; I plan on making them right away. Now maybe if my brother tasted these, he’d stop referring to garbanzo beans as “one of those edible things in nature we should just ignore.”

If you want to get lost in a gorgeous treasure trove of textile goodness, browse the Sukan shop. I mean, there are 44 pages of amazing textiles like the pillow above! Pretty incredible. And a pretty fantastic place to do some procrastinating! ;-)

Anthropologie tour via iPhone Photos

Sis(in-law) Hannah and I went to Anthropologie last week — can you believe it was my first time there since I moved to Florida at the end of February?! Too ridiculous. I used to go all the time when we lived in California, and I definitely want to get back in the habit.

As you can see, I was shamelessly enthusiastic and clicked a bunch of snapshots with my phone. (Click to see all fifteen photos.)

Happy Monday! Today marks the launch of a brand-new weekly series here on Oaxacaborn: Monday’s Pretty Things! Hope you enjoy this little dose of loveliness.

I saw the above photo on Pinterest, and then went over to Lovely Little Details to see more. Oh my goodness! What a stunning party. You must view the other stunning baby shower images. I’ve never seen anything like it!

These whimsical creatures caught my eye. Aren’t they fun? Umbrella Prints hosted a contest to see what people would make from fabric trimmings. I loved these little animals; check out the other beautiful projects fashioned from fabric scraps.

I really like Hmong textiles. (Did you see the adorable Hmong baby outfit I posted a while ago?) This pretty bag was sewn from a vintage Hmong baby carrier. There are so many more amazing Hmong textile bags in this Etsy shop — go look! I wanted to post them all.

I saw this Thai embroidered bag on Bloesem Kids. It’s a photo from one of the many gorgeous nurseries/kids’ rooms styled by Dutch interior designer KinderKamer.Β I love her portfolio — she has so many good ideas!

One thing I really miss about California is the lavender growing everywhere. There are few aromas more beautiful than the smell of fresh lavender, hot under the valley sun. Isn’t this picture from Fuori Borgo just gorgeous?

And finally, from Ruffled, these lavender bouquets are some of the loveliest wedding bouquets I’ve seen! I think the burlap and twine pairs absolutely perfectly with the lavender.

Stay tuned next week for more of Monday’s Pretty Things!
