MONDAY’S PRETTY THINGS :: Decorating for Christmas with Felted Balls

Felted garlands are a great way to add color to your Christmas decor in a non-traditional way (i.e., not strictly red+green). Of course, I’d easily be able to justify leaving the strands up long after December is over. You can purchase both loose spheres and ready-made strands at craft stores and via private sellers on Etsy, or, you can felt your own wool using directions from one of these DIYs below! I really like the all-white ones strung on the neon thread! Which is your favorite?

MONDAY’S PRETTY THINGS :: Toile Dishes

How are you this November Monday? I’m enjoying these pretty toile patterns right now — although I do find it odd that both Anthropologie and Target have such a similar interpretation of dip-dyed toile. I saw the former in Anthro this weekend, and they are really lovely in person (I’m partial to the blue-on-blue ones). Target’s version is melamine, but they don’t seem to be currently available online or in stores right now. I wonder if they are just temporarily sold out?

MONDAY’S PRETTY THINGS :: Earthy Autumn Blues

There’s a hint of fall in the air. When I say “hint”, I really mean that — a nearly imperceptible nudge that’s just barely recognizable as autumn. This is Florida, after all. There’s no crisp air, no falling leaves, nothing to quiet the around-the-clock hum of the air conditioner. But it’s there on the calendar — September — and today, I’m picturing September in minty blues and earthy browns.

MONDAY’S PRETTY THINGS :: An Antidote for Stormy Weather

Cynthia Rowley's home via The GlowImage of Cynthia Rowley’s home, as photographed for The Glow

How’s the weather where you are? I’m definitely appreciating coffee this morning, as we were woken repeatedly last night because of Tropical Storm Isaac-induced 50mph winds and rains. (Three cheers for Aveline, who quickly fell back asleep on her own each time she awoke!) This morning it’s oddly dark; the thick cloud cover isn’t letting a bit of light in. The scene is very much the opposite of the above image!

Squalls are expected to continue throughout the day today, so to counteract the dark rain beating against the windows — and before we lose power! Josiah just texted to tell me there is a partial power outage at work — I thought I’d share a lineup of things which are nice and calming. Pretty things such as…

I think it would look charming covering a single wall in a guest room — you know, in that dream world where we all have an extra room to decorate in Parisian vintage decor. :)

Hope your Monday is lovely, friends!
