i’m finally feeling perky enough to get a few boxes unpacked. i love rediscovering our pretty things!

i blogged previously about the fabulous lime green IKEA Somnat crib we’d picked out for our baby. last night, we assembled it! (and by we, i mean, my wonderful artist-husband.) yes, i know it’s still a little over seven weeks until baby is supposed to show her precious face, but things are already starting to get busy with thanksgiving, christmas, and new years plans. and our little kumquat is due just 10 days into the new year! so, husband got out his trusty cordless drill (who doesn’t like an excuse to use to use a power tool?) and assembled away. of course, this was after we’d measured everything in the room, plotted out the dimensions on a photoshop grid, and did some virtual rearranging to figure out how to actually fit the crib into our room.
isn’t it lovely? i can’t stop looking at it!
i thought i’d share some of the pretty things catching my eye around the interwebs today. i’ve been down with a cold, and these bright pops of colour brightened my day. are any of you having a wintery gray day? maybe this will brighten your day as well.

this was such a perfect reminder this morning. (no link to source — typography is my own.)

Remember when I said, “I think our house is in need of some giant letters“? Well, why let Anthropologie have all the fun? We’re making this happen. (And by me, I actually mean 26:PM, who actually just tweeted a photo of the work in progress).
[UPDATE: See another, better, photo of the giant cardboard letters here.]

If you don’t want to go through all the work to make these by hand, you can also buy premade papier mache 3D cardboard letters.
you expected this, right? i mean, i can’t resist any Toast UK catalogue. but Toast UK+Christmas? ahhh, lovely. this Christmas edition is absolutely dreamy. i’m perusing it while eating gluten-free pumpkin scones, but now after seeing all these Christmas-y pictures, i am feeling an immediate need to go make some hot cocoa or peppermint tea.

tonight, my love and i wandered around west elm and anthropologie, sipping Peet’s coffee. i love how we can just spontaneously jump in the car after a long day, and go unwind.
i always feel so inspired after leaving anthropologie, wanting to come home and create and redecorate and spruce everything up. window shopping is so much fun, but it’s even more fun to try to recreate the looks at home later (for way less moola). but tonight, i’m making some homemade sushi, not decorating. so while the rice is cooling, i’ll share some inspiring images from both stores…
