this is what happens when you’ve just had a baby and have nothing prepared for your husband’s birthday. you take leftover donuts from the fridge, sprinkle freeze-dried strawberry crumbs over them, and stick a couple candles in ‘em. tada!
if we’re not connected on facebook or twitter, then you may have missed the big news. baby munsey is finally here! aveline alenka made her debut on wednesday, january 19th at 2:13am, weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long. i can’t stop thinking about what one of the nurses said when she looked down at aveline –
well, hello, little one! and what have you come to teach us?
for our second anniversary, we returned to the place we were two years ago exactly. the gorgeous california coast, and the perfect beaches of bodega bay. and yes, i did read billy collins’ poetry aloud.

“As usual, I was thinking about the moments of the past,
letting my memory rush over them like water
rushing over the stones on the bottom of a stream.
I was even thinking a little about the future, that place
where people are doing a dance we cannot imagine,
a dance whose name we can only guess.” -Billy Collins
Does anyone find it mildly amusing that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Mexican militia’s victory over the French?
Apparently the French were peeved that Mexico had stopped repaying a loan they owed France and took it upon themselves to invade Mexico. (You know, they say Abraham Lincoln took Mexico’s side, but he didn’t exactly do anything about it — he was kind of preoccupied fighting a war of his own).
